Ability to sell extra artifacts
No votes left
I quite often seem to have my backpack full of "useless" artifacts. It would be neat if I we could sell/trade them for gold/resouces/experience. This could maybe be done in a neutral building on the map. Or even better: add this new selling feature as a marketplace lvl 2 upgrade.

I would like to add that in addition, I feel like there are too many artifacts in general, and their effects are usually not that interesting. I think being able to sell artifacts is a nice feature, but I would prefer not even having to deal with "useless" artifacts.
I think it would be nice to being able to sell your items
or perhaps something else also? :D
option 1: sell for gold
option 2: salvage your item for crafting materials
Crafting artifacts would be pretty nice and make it more interesting
Or even just the ability to trash them would be appreciated. A wielder walking around with a bunch of +3 strength daggers isn't going to help anyone, lol. It just clutters up their inventory.
More specifically you tend to end up with an absurd amount of WEAPONS. Every time I play a skirmish map, regardless of which one, by the end I'll have 10+ extra weapons, while I might not even have all the other slots filled. For some reason this game loves to give weapons wayyy more than any other type.
selling artifacts at the marketplace seems like a cool idea. so you can't just sell everything on the go and have to come back to a marketplace to sell. giving a chance for the enemy to still loot all what you have on you.
(because if you can sell everything no matter where you are we will get abuse like a wielder selling everything he has on him before a soon to be lost fight which would be very unfair.)
You can add this feature in Marketplace.

What would be cool would be to have each faction have different ways to salvage artifacts:
Arleon could combine artifacts to create a new higher tier one.
Barya could sell artifacts for money.
Rana could disassemble artifacts for resources.
Loth could offer artifacts to summon high-tier units.
Or perhaps all fractions could have their own Racial Artifacts, which could be created only be salvaging the nautral artifacts of the same tier ( I should take a lot of time, money and of course artifacts ). But the racial artifacts could add for example:
or maybe even
Another upgrade to a particular unit
Skye is the limit ;)
Well, about all this I just think about a black market, neutral building that sells artifacts for high price / buy ones for low price.
Upgrade trading post to be able to sell seems a cool idea, but in the end, it's buying a building to get benefit from a reward, which should be a reward regardless any investment.
But I do agree that it also comes from :
- a lot of items are weak weapons
- Too many low grade items
- No enough items diversity
So maybe we can add building or upgrade to "The Market" in which we can salvage artifacts in order to create our own?
Every fraction could have its own "Racial Artifacts"-ex.
Baria - Hand Cannon, Hellblazer ( Flamethrower ) or Omnitrooper ( can add flying to the hero, just like in H3 ).
Loth - Dead Man Hat, Plague Mask, Armor of the Immortal
They will always better than neutral, but to create them, we need to salvage a ton of neutral artifacts. And then, we can add unique skills related to those created artifacts.
I second the idea that the marketplace (or an upgrade for the marketplace) would be the perfect spot for selling off unwanted artifacts.
Some potential solutions to this:
1. Adventure map location that lets the wielder who visits it sell artifacts. If worried about abuse, then limit one sale per turn
2. Make it a function that unlocks once you control more than x marketplaces. It would give a reason to build more of them beyond making exchange rate more favorable.
3. Same as #1 but make it a flaggable building. Players can fight over the building because controlling it gives you the advantage of being able to sell artifac
4. Any of the above, but make it a double edged sword. Anything you sell enters a general inventory that another faction can purchase from.
5. Create a mechanism where you can expend/destroy an artifact for a one-time benefit in combat or adventuring.
6. Create a sink where artifacts can be sacrificed to make progress toward and eventually unlock something great. Think like the grail in HoMM but minus the puzzle.
Very nice idea with t2 marketplace
Damn right. It's such a simple but apt idea
I leave some ideas:
1_ It would be great if the artifacts affect the image of our hero in the game, so if we put a plague mask on him, our hero will appear with it on the map.
2_ Instead of the current inventory of artifacts, expand the character window and make another one with a more square design, but where the duplicate artifacts appear with an index number that indicates how many we have.
3_ Reduce the number of artifacts found per map, even more so in the campaign where they remain for the next map or diversify them, there are many weapons and armor but very few talismans. It would also be great to have layers.
4_ There could also be a "Weapons and Armor Reforger" building per map where different artifacts can be joined to form a higher level or category, so three normal +2 attack swords could become a +6 attack longsword. Decreasing the artifacts in inventory and at the same time forming better ones, but paying a large cost for the reforge.
5_ In addition to the previous one, create an artifact vendor but one that has a high cost depending on which artifact you want, so a normal sword would only cost gold, while a greatsword requires a lot of gold and quite a few essential resources.
Marketplace upgrade: sells/buys artifacts for gold
Subsequent Marketplace upgrades: increase the number and the tier of artifacts on offer
New medium building: Blacksmith - forges/melts artifacts from/into resources
Blacksmith upgrade: ability to fuse certain artifacts together into more powerful ones, thus freeing up slots for your hero to equip more
Subsequent Blacksmith upgrades: more powerful fusing recipes???
You can bring it to the Marketplace to exchange them - would be nice
No need, to add more comments, I totally agree. And most of the options are fine to me.
Less better items and thereof less micromanagement would be preferable.
I don't think it makes much sense to have multiple wielder with so many item slots.
It would feel better to have 3 slots and items being somewhat interesting. And perhaps some ability to upgrade them into their "next tier"
I've been playing through the first campaign, and this is definitely a feature I found missing. My backpack was very quickly full of all kinds of junk.
This is something we want do, but we are unsure when we can fit into the development schedule. We have at least partially removed the problem with having filled up your inventory, because you can now drop artifacts back on the ground.
Some way to sell unwanted items rather than just destroying them.

1) About breaking artifacts into pieces/resources it could at random cause battle with artifact "soul" - especially in case of higher tiers
2) Maybe units also could be equipped with artifacts? +3 dagger would-be great for low tiers - and it couldn't be taken back from unit - when squad dies artifacts attached to it disappears.
3) Artifacts contains Essence of given type(s) and if broken before(during) battle release this essence.
Such a great idea that was proposed by Morresh. Breaking item into pieces and fighting against its soul sounds great. It could be great if we also have an opportunity to make a new artifact from that pieces.
You can now drop artifacts (you have been able to for a while, in fact) so the problem with a filled inventory is at least solved now. This means that you'll always be able to pick up artifacts you find, regardless of how many you already have in your inventory.
We plan to add a building for this functionality on the adventure map.
If your inventory is full and you win a battle and get several more artifacts as a reward, are you able to somehow get those items or are they lost forever?
You can either drop/destroy or sell artifacts now. Enjoy!
