Fixing the WORST hero skill, Scouting
Scouting is undeniable the worst skill in the game.
usage of increased vision is niche. its modifier is low(+2 per level). And it has absolutely no Combat effectiveness.
Therefore, I propose merging "Scouting" and "Prepare" skill as the new "Scouting"
This is simply a logical outcome by theme.
If you see farther away, you can see what is coming sooner; Therefore you can be prepared earlier
However, +5 initiative is a bit too strong which needs to dial down a bit
So lets me present to you with the new "Scouting"
Level 1
Wielder can see farther on the world map and plan ahead
+2 vision radius
+3 troop initiative
Level 2
Wielder can see farther on the world map and plan ahead
+4 vision radius
+6 troop initiative
Level 3
Wielder can see farther on the world map and plan ahead
+5 vision radius
+1 wielder movement
+10 troop initiative

ZymethThere is already initiative bonus from other skill. Same goes for the movement. I'd rather add scouting to the range buff skill, but IIRC this is a lvl 8/16/24.. special.

Duncan McFarlaneNot a bad idea, - would add in merging ti witth equivalent of HOMM "tactics" at higher levels of scouting giving your army a larger number of hexes you can deploy troops on at the start of a battle

TalesofaBryceI think Scouting could have an interesting combat application by allowing you to place your units in more ideal spots. Being about to 'scout out' the battle map and get more ideal placement would definitely make the skill more worthwhile!

CidI don't think scouting is that bad on large maps. It is more valuable the larger the map is. The same was true in Heroes 3. It's on the weaker side, yes, but not useless.
