More locations where we can deploy our troops
Currently we can never deploy them in interesting spots, like a high tile quite forward, or a tile at the very back at higher elevation, or a tile surrounded by higher tiles.
Considering our current deployment options there's no real meaningful choice often.. it's all a bit the same or one option just makes sense where the rest doesn't (maybe there's a mirrored deployment version possible which is also not interesting). More risk/reward choices would enrich the game.
More deploy zones can lead to different tactics and counter-tactics.

bbengerI agree. They designed this beautiful interface which is rendered almost useless in the majority of battles. Opening up more possibilities for more strategic choices (do I take the high ground but be in range of enemy archers? Do I group my units or spread them out?) would be very welcome.

MrAdrianPlIt would be great to just have a hero skill that increases the possible deploy area it would be quiet neat skill to have and could allow turning battles as initial phase is really important maybe further levels would allow deploying units on players half of the battlefield instead of just backlines on lower levels of it

Sloul MergedDeployment is very limited currently, to the point when you can only deploy a single line.
This suggestion aims to bring 1 or 2 more lines to the deployment zones.
Possibly unlock the lines on the edge of the battleground for deployment.
In many instance, I would deploy some units to have them back 1 or 2 tiles.
Otherwise, the ability to deploy melee/tank units directly in front of ranged units would be very welcome. -

Kvorum MergedI have already found more than one similar topic about it. Want to keep playing "turtle" formation like in HoM&M? Hide shooters behind tanks? There are pluses in the fact that you can’t close yourself with a blank wall, the initiative of units begins to play a very large role, probably many have come across Raana’s riders when their speed and initiative does not give you a chance to activate the “turtle” formation and it’s damn awesome!
P.S. And even more so, the game has the magic of blink, slows, obstacles. I think this is more than enough -

KSAgree. Tying expanded deployment space to a skill is a cool idea. It introduces interesting tradeoffs for players to make when developing the wielders.
This becomes a lot more relevant if more battlefield obstacles are introduced. Right now, it mostly just lets players take better advantage of elevation. -

KCAdd more possible hexes to place units via skills. Marching and Scouting seem perfect possibilities (as I don't know about you, but I NEVER take those, but would take them if they also allowed more placement options).

CidMaybe a new skill could increase the available unit placement tiles, similar to the Tactics skill in Heroes 3.
