Scream Admin@Andreas
Are you asking "How" or "Why" ?
Just because something is denied, doesn't mean it's a bad idea. It could be for any number of reasons. Maybe they don't have the resources to add 'beautiful music and animations.' Maybe they feel that is too much work. Or maybe they would just rather focus on things that are more in line with their vision for their game. -

BrokhovedTown screens are a large part of the asthetic of the old Homm games. They allow artist to bring character and athestic to factions and the music theme each factions has also expands on it.
In my humble opinnon impressive and enchanting town screens carry alot of weight if you want to harken back to the classic Homm 3 -

KacperThis is absolutely not needed. Having town upgrades and troop recruitment without closing the main screen/map is just better UX. And don't get me wrong, I love HOMM3 town screens, but they're absolutely not necessary.

KSIndeed. I think the spirit of town screens (i.e. using artwork to add flavor and immersion) is welcome. The exact implementation of it in the form of a town screen, I could take it or leave it.

MattI would rather have improved and more varied layout for each faction town, rather than jpegs of a city on my screen.

Andreas Peter Larsen@Scream / Admin
i was properly asking mostly why
and i have heard that town screens take up a lot of resources to add the music and animations needed to do them right. That's the problem that the devs behind heroes of might and magic 6 had, which is why there were not part of the game at release. -

Red DragonThey were a nice implementation for HoMM at the time but they don't suit this game, it's much better to have the buildings on the map and making them pillage-able. And you can also have multiples of the same building and tell at a glance from the outside what's in an opponents city.
It's just bad for this game, not every tiny thing needs to be ripped off from HoMM, SoC is it's own game and it's good at it. -

ZoleSnkI don't think we need a City picture. The uniqueness of this game is that you build on the map.

Yosi Avneri MergedOutside of town view is taking the magic and interest from the game - we must have town screen / inside view of the maps like other games in series

Yosi Avnerii hate the game town view now, there must be inside view, no town screen in factions makes it focus combat, i cant play it like that hope there will be mods

vanHooijdonkTown view is really beautiful and attaches you to your fraction/city. Maybe should consider that option, still having map view in place.

SeranuelianThe entire game and art design decided to not go with town screens to be more lean and visible. If you had townscreens you couldnt properly scout what the enemy is doing either.
Please stop adding to this suggestion, its not going to happen.
Plus the economic cost to put in that much art and whatnot to change it. People please. -

BortonThis difference with HoMM is one of those that made me smile when I first saw it. I love HoMMโs townscreens, but I donโt need every enjoyable feature from HoMM to be included here. I want to play SoC, not HoMM8 (well, that too, but some other day).

Sidea LannisterBut... we already have this :D I mean, I hover over my city and I can see the buildings and have ambient music, it is not much different from HoMM.
