More interesting artifacts and skills
It would be nice if artifacts and skills didn't just add some bonuses but be a little bit different. For example artifact like in HOMM that gave your hero flight over terrain, etc.

ArthurI'm all for it, current skills (especially "warriors" skills, which work with your army, like + defence) is a little bit boring. I think it would be nice if there is a more unique skills, or maybe current skills will gain you an acces to some perkz. Because in this game you are able to recruit only units of your fraction, it should be not so hard to create and balance skills/perkz, which have connection to your fraction.

E-DragonDefinitely this. Artifacts only giving stat buffs is really boring.
I loved how the homm series had so many interesting artifacts, it would be a shame to reduce them to just minimal stat buffs. -

Mrop2000What kinds of effects are you guys wanting to add? Looking at some of the older Heroes games I can see:
- Improved "diplomacy" (neutrals join/surrender easier)
- Spell duration
- Unit Speed
- Immunity/resistance/boost to certain spells
- Unit growth per round
- Unit Health
- No range penalty (so deadly range = range)
Though I suspect some of these overlap with skills. -

aerobars MergedI think adding more variety to what is offered with the wielder items can help make both the items and the wielders more interesting. Currently most of the items are pretty straightforward and it boils down to "what items give me the most stats." Adding a wider variety of items, especially some caster focused items, can help to make that decision more interesting and make the wielders more specialized into the role you want to use them for.
Some good examples could be a 2h staff that reduces the essence cost of spells by 1 (or 2 if it's a very high level item), or another item that causes you wielder to do more damage and/or have more effectiveness with spells of a certain essence type, or items that don't provide many stats, if any, but give your units a permanent spell effect such as Quicken or Aggression. -

Fani MergedRight now artifacts pretty much boil down to simple stat boots (There are some exceptions but only few) Would be nice for artifacts to have more varied effects.
Some examples:
- Artifacts which improve map traversal. Walking on water, Cutting trees, short teleport, return to base. (All of these might have also limited use. For example use 3 times and you are done, you can then just sell it for little gold)
- Artifacts which affect combat in an active way. Maybe you can summon an extra creatures or teraform the battlefield or powerful limited use scrolls of spells which are not in a spell book like resurrect. -

scrubworthYes, some of the more powerful modifiers in the came come instead from Wielder 'powers'.
This system has it's balance benefits as these powers cannot then be acquired by the opponent by means of winning a battle.
But to keep things a little unpredictable the game needs some artifacts capable of shifting the whole battle dynamic.
Here are some ideas:
Grail ... regen +70hp/turn (living creatures only)
Banner of Vengeance ... +1 retaliations
Cloak of Conjuring ... +1 spell duration
Book of toxicology --- + poison effect to all melee attacks
Glowing Stones ... all units damage all adjacent units (friend or foe)
Stunning Hammer ... -1 enemy retaliation
Caltrops ... -1 enemy movement
Raycasting stick ... -1 enemy range / deadly range
Book of Strategies ... allows you to run from a fight (lose army but keep artifacts)
Spiked Armour ... 20% of melee damage is reflected to attacker -

scrubworthAnd some more...
Bracelet of Chaos Inhibition ... prevent all Chaos essence generation (both sides)
Bracelet of Order Inhibition ... prevent all Order essence generation (both sides)
etc. for all essence types
Chaos Conduit ... double Chaos essence generation (both sides)
Order Conduit ... double Order essence generation (both sides)
etc. for all essence types
Lens of Misdirection ... Army appears weak to opponents
Prism of Illusion ... Army appears strong to opponents
Third Eye ... +1 radius to wielder zone of control on map
Seeing Stone ... see outlines of enemy wielder locations even behind fog of war
Divining Rod ... see artifact locations behind fog of war
Whip ... allows you to move up to 10 steps beyond normal movement range on the map, but every step kills a random creature from your army -

scrubworthoh, one more, the Loth version of 'grail'...
Necronomicon ... when an undead stack attacks a living stack and kills some units it immediately generates undead units up to 20% of the HP damage done, capped at number of living units killed. -

ArtemI agree. Make skills more interesting and synergistic like in HOMM5. Learning some skills opens up access to others. Combining skills unlocks unique skills. Add skills that trigger various unique effects.

I don't believe in doorsthe harsh range penalties make archers sorta good sorta bad, they could be better. if i could shoot aross the map and have it do 50% less damage sure. but you simply can't shoot that far to begin with, if a skill or artefact helps with this like mentioned above that'd be great.

Moderator AdminWe have overhauled the Wielder skills to make them more interesting. Artifacts is a separate issue and we are still not fully sure to which level of uniqueness we'll be able to get them within the development scope.
