Asynchronous Multiplayer
This is really the only feature I would really want added to the game and probably essential for me to continue playing long term. I decided to create a separate request for async rather than simultaneous turns since I think it's different enough and I'd prefer async.

MattAsync would allow for players to take their turn whenever they want without both playing at the same time. So it would function the same way as it does now, but you don't have to worry about taking too long or waiting for other players' turns.
These games would likely be played over multiple days / weeks depending on the map size. Wargroove and a lot of other similar games have this feature. -

Glaucous NoiseThis makes playing complex strategy games far easier for very busy people

AdrianI'm confused as to how `async mp` would work for this kind of game.
If 2 players of highly different experience play a MP game, what prevents one from ending up at turn 50 while the other one is barely at turn 20 ? One would have a very significant advantage, and if one can abuse ending his turns much faster, there'd be no way to catch up. -

scrubworthNot _that_ asynchronous! Turns are still consecutive but the players don't need to be online at the same time. A wait state is introduced between turns, save data is stored in the cloud, the current player can then log off and the next player recieves a push notification that it is their turn. They log on, save game synchronises and off they go.
Our current workaround for the lack of this feature is to have a dedicated always-on box running Songs of Conquest (!) where each player can remote in on their turn, but this method has several obvious drawbacks... -

DadleAsynchronous turns would open a whole new market for Songs of Conquest!
I have been searching the market for async multiplayer games that are not just digitalized boardgames, and there are barely any.
So having this for Songs of Conquest would really work well for all the HOMM fans that are now all grown up and no longer have the time to dedicate 5+ hours to a game even if they would really want to.
If you implement async turns I will have my friends buy the game as well so we can keep playing in between IRL! -

AsgrafI would love to see "play by email" style async multiplayer mode.

LangusMe and my friends only play asynchronous multi because we are busy. Someone will play a turn at 11 p.m., someone around 5 a.m.
Please look at how this was solved in CIV 6 or Age of Wonders 3 or AOW:Planetfall
