butttfaceI could see this being cool. Would have to question if you are able to jump board an enemy to fight in it or other factors or just for movement

SilentWater is magnificient in this game. It would be cool to traverse it (even if ship will appear only while moving through water or even if water is like 10% of the map).

NeuroNMaybe add sailing as a form of "Quick travel", so you can move between different ports. From HoMM3 I always found sailing to be a hindrance that polluted both maps and hero abilities etc.

fvbn yyeah, would be cool to have that option. Plus, I'm always for more pixel art stuff - ship concepts might be a beautiful addition (tho, kinda weird to play as froglings and have to traverse water on a ship? :p).

Andreas Peter Larsenit could work as long as:
- that sailing is seen as an option to make special and new sea-born monsters. Like Mermaid folk with tritons and other sea monsters taken out of legends and fairy tales.
- have special objects on water that you can interact with like buoys, lighthouses that act like the scout tower on land does and new things that the devs can find out.
- don't have a skill that makes you move faster while navigating the water. The navigation skill in Heroes 3 was trash because many maps didn't have any water, thus making it useless many times. This is not something that i would like to see repeated in Songs of Conquest. -

TheRealLordGruHonestly I hated sailing and water in Heroes series so I'm glad it's not here!

TyiliyraI see it as not only traversing, but having new content. Imho It's really thrilling idea to have a new asymetric faction based on water access like pirates or sth. Otherwise having half empty terrain (ocean) only to traverse would be kinda meh. The big maps already lag. I wish this was implemented but along with bigger maps which means additional dev work for better performance overall.

I don't believe in doorsi would love more actual fortress type stuff, since you don't have an actual towns you could have powerful unique stacks gaurding forts, ect with dialogue. like silkspool except they would be more minor, named gaurds ect. from what i have seen of the first two songs you could definitely benefit with more creative map terrain types and troops placement/interactions. islands and many more types would defeinitely benefit this game.

Matthew UnderwoodThings should be OP sometimes. If you don't like it then just play on a perfectly balanced map. I would love to have one naval hero and RP that he's a great captain or something. I could create a map where you have to go colonize a new land!

CowkillSailing would be cool but only if it was totally different from sailing in HoMM3. Sailing in HoMM3 was a chore.

kittyActually, I'm on board with the idea of sailing as "Quick Travel" because I also agree that sailing in HOMM series was a chore! Maybe you have "ports" or destinations that you can travel from and to, some of these locations may even be in the middle of the sea! "Exploration" in this mode consists of unlocking more ports/destinations with unlock requirements - maybe town/settlement tier, hero level, or resources etc. Or, may even be guarded by creatures (sea battle to unlock naturally).

Riley WintersThe first thing I did when I opened up the map editor was to start whipping up an island-chain map before it dawned on me, OH SHOOT! No boats!
Some of the best maps in the HOMM series featured sea-travel, in my opinion. It would be a huge shame if y'all didn't add some boats! -

Dindi MergedAdd Ships and water objectives/events/tressures, becouse the water feels so useless and you cannot create island maps which is boring af, portals are limiting

SteffyMaybe an idea for a future dlc if it's not in the cards for the base game. Maritime exploration and combat in an island setting.

QuindariusGoochJust so long as its not HOMM3 sailing which makes embarking and disembarking costs all your movement for the day and the default movement on the ocean is painfully slow.

yescould be fun in the swamp campaign

Moderator AdminWe agree that sailing could be fun and a great addition to the game. Unfortunately it is not within the current scope of the development towards 1.0. It might seem like a small task, but unfortunately it isn't. So, for the sake of prioritzation and resource management, we have chosen to not include sailing into the development plan.

MeRana, as frogs, should be able to SWIM. That would be quite cool, and it could lead to water combat and other boat maneuvers.

Luca Stoica MergedI am probably in the minority when asking for this but I think a seafaring map or even campaign might be great , and the ship travel would work great with the barya theme.
It is basicaly a methodto travel over large bodies of water and a method to engage in combat over water (ex: Ships) -
